Dear Parents,

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

• We just found out that our class will be going snowshoeing on Wednesday, Jan. 26^th!!  I’ve attached the Parks and Recreation permission slip and a field trip permission slip.  Both of these permission slips need to be returned.   The city of Pocatello has raised the cost this year.  The cost is $10.00.  The students will also need to bring a sack lunch that day.  They are also welcome to bring extra snacks and plenty of water.  If your child needs any help with the required clothing, please contact me.  Please send the permission slips and $10.00 to school as soon as possible.  If you have any questions, please call me or e-mail me here at school:  237-4742 or thompsde@d25.k12.id.us .  If you would like to go with us, please let me know.  We would love the extra help!  We will be sharing a bus with Mr. Merica’s 5^th grade class, so any parent wanting to help will have to drive/carpool to the Nordic Center.

• NOVEMBER BOOK ORDERS are due Monday, Nov. 15th. If you order any for Christmas, just write a note or e-mail me and I will keep them for you to pick up in person. Combine all orders and make the check payable to Scholastic Books.

Thanks to the parents who helped with the Halloween party. I appreciate all you did for us!

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

• Donation of Candy: If you would like to donate a bag of candy for classroom rewards/prizes for reading, homework, good behavior, etc. I would greatly appreciate it. All of the Halloween candy will be on clearance soon.
• I will be gone next Thursday, Nov. 4th, to an all day seminar. Please remind your child about expected behavior with a substitute teacher. Thank you!

Dear Parents,

IMPORTANT INFORMATION
• ISU is sponsoring a reading incentive program called Benny Book Club. Students will receive a free ticket voucher to an ISU event for every 150 pages they read. This incentive is good up to 600 pages. ISU has provided a record sheet for this purpose. It is being sent home today in the Friday Homework Folder. After your child has read 150 pages, return the signed paper to school and I will send home a ticket voucher for you to take to an ISU ticket office to be redeemed for a ticket to any football, volleyball, soccer, or men’s or women’s basketball game during the 2010-2011 school year. The ticket voucher may be turned in at the ticket office at Reed Gym or Holt Arena beforehand or at the event. 5 books = 150 pages

• Please make sure you have used the Infinite Campus Portal to view your child’s grades. If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Obray or Mrs. Orr in the office for your log in information.

Dear Parents,
IMPORTANT INFORMATION

• Ellis is having a Book Fair next week in the library. Please see the flyer in your child’s homework folder. I am sending home Scholastic Book order forms for the month of October. If you can’t make it to the book fair, then you may find something in the book order. If you want an item as a gift, just let me know and I can hold it back for you until you have time to pick it up. Book orders will be due by Monday, Oct. 25th. Make checks payable to Scholastic Books. I will be sending home two more orders before Christmas.

• If you haven’t picked up your Infinite Campus Portal account numbers yet, please stop the office. On Thursday, Oct. 21st, report cards will be sent home through this portal system. If you do not have access to a computer, a paper copy will be sent home that same day.

• The oldest child in your family will be bringing home a flyer letting you know of all the activities for next week: Parent Night, Granola with Grandparents, and HEART DAY.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

• The fourth grade classes will be going on our first field trip on Thursday, Sept. 30th. Farm Bureau and the Portneuf Soil and Water Conservation District are sponsoring “Fall Ag Field Days” for all 4th graders. We will be visiting Swore Farm. We leave school at 9:00 and return around 1:40. If you would like to go with us, please send a note or give me a call. Please sign and return the attached slip as soon as possible. Voluntary donations of 1-can of food per person will be accepted at the farm from those who wish to participate in the Farm Bureau Young Farmers and Ranchers food drive. Students will need to bring a sack lunch. They may purchase one from school or bring a sack lunch from home. Students are encouraged to wear long pants, a long sleeved shirt or a jacket, and closed toed shoes (such as sneakers).

• Book Orders due back to school on Monday, September 27th. You may order out of any or all of them. You will only need to write one check for all the book orders. You can make checks payable to Scholastic Book Clubs.

• Please remember to send in the $4.50 for your child’s yearly subscription to Scholastic News as soon as possible. Thank you for your support!

• Our 4th Graders will be going to Swore Farms on Friday, Sept. 30th. We will leave at 9:00 and return at 1:30. The permission slip will be sent home next week. This field trip is sponsored by Farm Bureau.

• Our Math program starts right off with multiplication and division facts. The students are bringing home flash cards for facts we have already introduced in class. Please help your child memorize these facts for both multiplication and division. More will be sent home in the following weeks.

WE ARE GOING TO HAVE A TERRIFIC YEAR TOGETHER!!

AR GOALS: Students will be STAR testing this week, and then we will be setting AR goals for the first 6 weeks of school. Students will be bringing home AR home logs on Monday. They will need to read for 20-30 minutes each night, fill out their log each night, and have parents initial their reading log each night.
