ELLIS MOTTO:   “I AM RESPONSIBLE AND ALWAYS LEARNING!!!”
ROOM 5 MOTTO:  “DO YOUR BEST!!!”

Dear Parents,
IMPORTANT INFORMATION
  • I am sending home another “Inference or Fact” worksheet this week.  Please remind your child that an inference is made when they use clues from the story/passage to figure out something that the author doesn’t tell them directly.  A fact can be found directly in the story/passage.  If they have any questions, have them see me before next Friday.
  • HOMEWORK AND SPELLING:  There won’t be any homework sent home next Friday.  I will send the homework and new spelling words home on Monday, Jan. 7th.  The spelling test will be given on Friday, Jan. 11th.
  • Please have your son/daughter read over the Christmas Break. To help encourage reading, our school has joined the “MyOn” reading contest.  Students read books on www.MyOn.com between Dec. 14th and Jan. 11th.  There will be prizes from MyOn and from our PTA for students reading the most books.  Many of the books students read on the website are AR books that can be tested on here at school.
  • Our class has just started using a great math site to practice our math skills.  It is www.sumdog.com  .  Students’ usernames and passwords are the same ones they use for the AR reading program.  Here are two more fun websites for Math and Reading practice:  www.coolmath.com and www.funbrain.com  .
  • The end of the 6 weeks is Jan. 16th.   AR reading goals are due on this date.
  • Ask your child about the excellent assembly we had with author Obert Skye.
  • Donuts with Dads:  Thurs., Dec. 20th from 8:00-8:30.  Hope to see all of you gentlemen here!
