IMPORTANT INFORMATION

•  HOMEWORK INFORMATION:  This is the homework for the short week ahead! Attached you will find the entry form (cover sheet) and contest rules for the Lion’s Club Patriotism Essay Contest.  Please take a few minutes to discuss the theme: “What Red, White, and Blue Means to Me”. Follow the guidelines to complete the essay.  Essays are due next Thursday, February 20^th.  All students will receive a grade in the grade book for this essay.  There will be a 1^st, 2^nd, and 3^rd place winner for the 4^th graders at Ellis.  The winners will be awarded their prizes at the end of the year awards assembly.

• NO SCHOOL next Monday and Friday. 
•  PENNY WARS FOR THE IDAHO FOOD BANK START ON MONDAY!! 
• Penny Wars start Tuesday, February 18^th and run through Thursday, February 20^th. All money donated will be given to the Idaho Food Bank.  Students may add pennies to their classroom jars.  Silver coins may be added to other classroom jars and will count against the pennies.  At the end of the week the money will be counted. The PTA will be awarding the top 2 classes a pizza party! Thanks for helping us support the Idaho Food Bank! 
•  MOMS IN THE MORNING: We had a wonderful turn out for this event. A huge THANK YOU to the PTA for sponsoring this event! 
•  THANK YOU to all the moms who helped make our Valentine’s Party and Art Moms so much fun!  We appreciate all you do for us. 
•  AR GOALS: students should be at 100% by Wednesday, Feb. 19^th. 
• We are privileged to have access to eBooks , and with the technology being used and implemented throughout education, we feel that it would be in your child’s best interest to read some of these books at home.  We have been using the eBook, Surviving the Oregon Trail, at school as part of our curriculum.  Students may access these books from a PC or a tablet. They may check the books and read from anywhere they happen to be. Here is the login information for accessing the eBooks and World Book:

·        From the home page on Destiny you will also find links to AR Book Finder where you can look up a test number and book level for books. You can access AR Renaissance, Infinite Campus, public libraries in our area, and fun links for kids to learn and explore on.

• Please complete and return the Khan Academy forms as soon as possible.  They were sent home two weeks ago. Thank you! 
•  SCHOLASTIC BOOK ORDERS:  February orders are being sent home.  Due date is Feb. 25^th.  You may order on-line www.scholastic.com/bookclubs .  Enter code HCWNC to get to our class order forms.
